About Authority Agent

Authority Agent is the product surface of Capture the Conversation LLC, an authority-building operation based in Longmont, Colorado. It sells one outcome: category authority for founder-led businesses — becoming the known individual in your marketplace, not a personal brand.

Who runs it

James Clark is the founder and operator. He ran agencies for thirty years, including a digital agency he ran for twenty-two, and shut it down to work as a solo operator running the business through AI systems. His background is category design and jobs-to-be-done research. He became a professional ghostwriter, then operationalized the craft into a repeatable operation rather than a service that depends on his calendar.

Every category interview and every customer interview is run by a human. That does not get delegated to software.

Who this is for

Founder-led businesses whose owner has spent twenty-five or thirty years in the work. Veterans, expert practitioners, specialists, small teams. The pattern is always the same: they know twenty times more than their competition, they are meaningfully better, and their clients love them more, yet they still do not have authority in the marketplace. That gap is the whole problem.

What we actually do

The work triangulates four layers, and every deliverable is built from all four:

  1. Customer. Jobs-to-be-done research from real buyer interviews, covering functional, emotional, and social progress.
  2. Category. The narrative framework and the game the founder is building to own.
  3. Company. The founder's specific positioning and differentiation.
  4. Products and services. What is actually sold, framed as vehicles for customer progress.

The method is founder-first, and the order is not negotiable. The founder's own category interview authors the position. Customer interviews then pressure-test, balance, and enrich it. Never the reverse: we do not crowd-source a position out of customer quotes.

Category design alone is launch power: Newtonian physics, enough to get the rocket off the ground. Category design combined with real customer insight is a different order of leap, and that combination is what gets installed.

What you own

Every client gets their own AI brain that they and their team log into. Deliverables belong to the client: the Category Codex, the interview insights, the published work. Managed services run underneath that surface, never instead of it.

What we are not

Ghostwriting is the origin story rather than the product; it sits one level below what gets sold here. Personal branding is a different discipline with a different goal, and category authority is the one we practise. We do not sell prompt packs or downloadable AI skills, because the skills themselves are commodity and the moat is the interview-built context underneath them. And volume for its own sake is not the product, so this is not a content mill.

The offer ladder
